Squadron Structure

1324 (Hawker Blackburn) Squadron is led by a senior leadership team.

This team comprises adult staff and senior cadets, the latter holding the ranks of cadet warrant officer (CWO) or cadet flight sergeant (cdt FS).

The rest of the squadron is split into 3 main teams, known as “flights”. Each is named after an aircraft that was built at our traditional home in Brough, at the aircraft factory now known as BAe Systems. These are: Harrier Flight, Buccaneer Flight, and the more recently-formed Phantom Flight. Each is commanded by an experienced cadet sergeant (cdt sgt), who guides the junior cadets with the help of their cadet corporals (cdt cpl).

Our 4th flight is our recruit training flight, led by an existing cadet corporal who changes with each new intake. This flight is only in use for a few months following each of our 2 formal intakes (at the beginning of February and mid-September).

It is named in honour of former cadet, Jamie Loncaster who tragically died in his sleep having suffered a cardiac arrest caused by severe myocarditis.
